1. Why is the Celsius scale helpful in studying environmental conditions? Convert the following temperatures from Fahrenheit to Celsius: 16°F, 47°F, 72°F, and 98°F.

The Temperature scale is a methodology for easily calibrating physical quantities or temperature in metrology. Celsius scale is also referred to as the efficient scale due to its easy-to-use quality for environmental conditions. The reference points are simple and easy to recall as the Celsius scale has graduated from 0 to 100.

Fahrenheit to Celsius conversion:

i. 16°F = (16°F − 32) × 5/9 = -8.889°C

ii. 47°F = (47°F − 32) × 5/9 = 8.333°C

iii. 72°F = (72°F − 32) × 5/9 = 22.222°C

iv. 98°F = (98°F − 32) × 5/9 = 36.667°C
